Quite the eventful day. As you all can see from the past two updates, Shelby has begun to eat and drink. She has been assigned a dysphagia diet level 2. You SLPs out there can post comments telling everyone what that is or all of you can just stop bein lazy and do some research. It's called Google people. Know it, learn it, love it. I brought Shelby her favorite beverage this evening and she loved every minute of it. Her eyes lit up as we talked about all the stuff we will be bringing her as she can eat more and more. She is still being fed at night until she acclimates more to eating and her stomach gets used to food again. However, hopefully soon she will completely switch to eating 3 squares a day. She also had her PICC line removed today. If that news wasn't good enough Sue said she actually saw her pick her leg and foot up from the ground willfully today as well. Oh but wait, there's more - She also told her mom "let go" when she was hanging onto her arm. She said she could hear it and Shelby's friends Cherie and Beth could as well. She only had one session of OT and PT today because the morning was spent on the swallow study so not much else to report. A very good day for Shelby and as she goes so do Sue and I. God has already answered some of our prayers, that is evident from the swallow study results today. Keep praying though. Until tomorrow keep praying for her hand and finger strength and her continued progress with her legs.

Shelby, did Sue tell you that Anth is working on a puree of filet ala Outback? Matt, wonderful choice for Shelb's first real food group.
Love you guys, De

I just wanted to say that Shelby had the biggest smile I'd seen yet when the SLP told her she could eat!
