Shelby at least slept some last night. They are adjusting her meds and hopefully this will help. She still slept through speech today, but they came to PT and integrated PT and speech all into one session in the morning to try and keep her awake. She is still working on posture and transfers in PT. This is good though. She is getting better at keeping herself upright without help. This is also helpful for her other therapies because they can move her to the edge of her chair and she stays awake and engaged a little more. As she gets better at holding her head and trunk upright this will be great for things like speech therapy that she has trouble staying awake for. Her appetite is getting better as well. She ate quite a bit at lunch time and dinner and even had two full servings of ice cream tonight. She still gets frustrated easily and I do my best to calm her down. It helps to just hug her and she believes me when I tell her everything will be fine and this will just take time, but it doesn't take much for her to get upset again. I can only imagine what is going through her head right now. Until she can start speaking I feel she will still be easily upset. Her voice is getting better though. Today she was messing with her belt buckle. When I asked her if she was trying to unbuckle or tighten it she said, "neither one." The steps she is making are small ones, but she does continue to make steps. Tomorrow is our field trip to dinner and the movies. I hope she can stay awake. Pray that she sleeps well tonight and that tomorrow she does better with speech therapy.

    Hey Matt,

I am so sorry to hear about this just yesterday! Your family must have been going through a lot recently. Hanging in there, our prayers are with you! I am sure things will get better in time. Be strong and patient, and be sure to take care of yourself too while you are taking care of her. Love will show its magic and overcome the difficulties...

    Best,

    Qiong
