Shelby had a good session of speech this morning that Sue says she was awake for almost the entire session. She still didn't sleep much last night though. Her sessions of PT were just spent stretching her legs and working on posture. She is still getting better at holding herself up. The more she progresses with this the quicker she can start working on hip and leg strength as she needs to be able to hold her trunk upright to stand and walk. Today was date day. We took her to see Watchmen in the theater. She slept through part of it, but she did get Ben and Jerry's ice cream and some Mountain Dew. She liked the movie, but said the comic is better. We then convinced the OT and RT to take her to Red Robin instead of hitting a drive through. She had a BLTA croissant, a cup of french onion soup, and strawberry lemonade. She was clearly ecstatic and actually started dancing a little when she dipped her BLTA in the soup and had a bite. She loved it and ate quite a bit. Her appetite is getting better and she is doing extremely well with eating. If she can start staying awake for speech it is possible they could upgrade her diet soon. Technically what we fed her at dinner was against her dysphagia 2 diet, but she has been doing so well we felt she could handle it and she did great. The speech therapist also noted she has started hearing more sounds from her and that she feels she is just at the cusp of making a breakthrough with her voice. She is doing awesome at articulating her words with her mouth she just needs to get it all working together. Until tomorrow keep praying for that voice, and for her to get her sleep schedule in order.

This evenings entry was so encouraging to read. We are so happy that you had a good time out and that you had a chance to do something FUN. We love you both and keep you in our prayers continually. Uncle John and Aunt Diane
